Hop Strainer Why?

why does the hop strainer have holes and the mashtun has cuts?

The grain can get through holes ... the hops Can't

so cuts would be ok for hops as well?

I think the hops will block the cut outs ... this will stop a good flow from the boiler to the FV

I have tried both in my boiler. Drilling 2.5mm holes in 22mm copper pipe worked really well and did not clog up. For my last brew I had a new boiler and made a manifold with cuts/slits. This became blocked half way through the run off.

So, holes for hops.
