Looking for tips guys. I add my hop pellets near the end of fermentation as this is what the premium kits advise as well but watching a Craigtube video he adds his Cascade pellets to a boil after hot break ? What is the point of a hot break with only dextrose and ldme in a pot ?
I boiled hops for 10mins once in with my brew enhancer and added to my Coopers aussie lager and it was far too bitter and undrinkable for 3 months.
Cheers

When you're talking about 'premium kits', do you mean kits with liquid extract where you just add water and yeast, then dry hop towards the end of fermentation? Or do you mean kits for all grain brewing that are designed to replicate a certain beer?

I mean kits that cost around £25 !
I have only brewed kits so far and have only really modified the cheaper one can kits like Coopers or Brewferm.
Cheers

Then I'd guess, having not seen it, that the video is of an AG or extract brew, not a kit.

You can add those hops on day one if you like, but leaving them in too long can produce grassy flavours, so they get added for the last five days or so. Also, adding them at the start of fermentation means the yeast will be very active and so the flavours may be changed by the fermentation, or aroma lost during the production of CO2.

Thank you for your reply.
It is definitely a kit,a simple Coopers IPA 1 can kit.
He adds 500g ldme 700g dextrose, boils it until a hot break then adds the cascade pellets.
I was just curious as to whether or not I was doing it all wrong but each to their own I guess.
Thanks :hat:
