Honey beer not fermenting too well?

My honey ale is not fermenting well ie very slowly :cry: I think I may have under pitched 1 pkt S04 for 31L or the temp is too low 18C :wha: the OG was 1054 & it is now only 1020 after 10 days :wha: is it a good idea at this stage to rack it off into a clean FV & re pitch?
 
I would suggest raising the temp to 21C and gently rousing the yeast, try to avoid too much splashing :thumb:

I think I've read Wez saying that he has left a couple of brews in the primary for 21 days with no off flavours. I know a lot of people talk about off flavours with it being sat on dead yeast, but not actually heard anyone say it's happened to them. My wierd logic says it can't be that bad or peeps wouldn't be pouring their wort onto yeast cakes (with plenty of dead yeast in? :hmm: ).

It's has happened to me twice when I've left beers on the yeast for about a month. It's not necessarily unpleasant depending on the beer but you can definately taste it. It's a bitter "bite" - hence being called yeast bite.
 
to my way of thinking, though i may be talking complete B***s :wha: yeast bite is caused by the dead yeast cells decaying just like any living organisms & obviously the length of time the beer is in contact with decayed yeast will make a difference. 3 weeks is a bit more than i would like to leave it :nono: especially with a delicatly flavourd beer, which is what I am aiming for with my honey ale. Though it will probably be be fine if left longer :thumb: & it is probably fine to dump fresh wort onto the yeast for primary fermentation,
