I am trying to order a new pressure barrel. I have designed my own pressurisation system that has been working for thirty years, so I need to connect my existing pipes to the barrel.

The best barrel seems to be a King Keg with a 4-inch lid and S30 valve. What size hole is in the lid, as I will have to order the correct bulkhead connector in place of the S30?

I would really appreciate some help here!

Thanks, MashBag, it is a start. However I really need something far simpler! If the hole is less that 12mm I can simply use a connector I already have.

Could somebody simply measure the size of the hole for me?

Defo bigger than 12mm. Prolly 17? 20241201_123927.jpg

It's not the news I wanted to hear, but at least I know the extent of the problem.

The barrels look like a good design, so I'll go with them and try and find a fix.

I really appreciate your help.

One of the most useful tools that I have for this is a tapered reamer. After using it, the hole can be finalised with fine-grit emery paper wrapped around a wooden dowel. It does a perfect job!

An alternative might be to drill a new hole for your chosen connector, and seal the S30 connector (fill it's holes with cyanoacrylate glue).

I use the S30 cylinder system (with top tap King Kegs). But recently had to seal up the release on a new style, stainless steel valve, that would hardly hold any pressure. It's now like, the fill only S30 connectors (that are now sold). You've just got to be sure that primary ferment is definately over, before carbonating.
