Hi all, I recently put on a Coopers Mexican Cerveza kit and I'm a bit worried...

I had some problems with the kettle and long story short, the brew was a little on the cold side at 16-18C so I put the brew up against the radiator and the brew went up to 30-32C. I have taken the brew away from the heat and it has now leveled out at 26C.

The high temps happened at the very beginning of the fermentation and was at the high temps no more than 10 hours (I noticed the high temp when I got back from work so not sure how long it was at the high point), any ideas what I will be expecting from this? I am fairly new to brewing having only made 5 brews, all of which have been fine brewing around the 26-27C mark, having never had the brew reach 30-32C I must say I am nervous... Any experience shared will be muchos appreciated

Ignore fermenting temperatures on the instructions mate. Coopers usually say up to 27c . Keep it 20c max. I have a mexican cerveza on the shelf to use in the comming weeks. I used the yeast that came with it on another brew [long story], so for the first time ive bought a saflager w-34/70 yeast to put in it. This yeast states 9c-16c temps, 12c is about perfect. I will try it out and brew it for longer. The yeast was quite expensive around £4.20 so i hope its worth it. :thumb:

Used this yeast at the start of the year to make an October fest style beer it was crystal clear when racking in to the corny, streets ahead of the S-23 I used the month before.
