Hi, I brewed eskimobobs bitter recipe Wednesday before last and just took a reading of 1.019, which seems rather high to me, its been fermenting at 17-18°c. Is it the low temp just causing this to slow down or could it be summit else??
Thanks, matt

Those temps are fine. What was your OG? That's the range in which I ferment most of my beers. You can try gently stirring the beer to get the yeast back up in suspension if it has dropped. Is there anywhere in the house warmer you could move it to? As a last resort, you could pitch more yeast.

My og was 1.050, and its much the same temp everywhere in the house.( plus its handy where it is so I don't get moaned at) I'll try giving it a stir but thinking I may pop out and get a bucket and aquarium heater too c if that helps

As said those temps are fine.

Can I ask if it has been steady because I had a stuck fermentation last week. I think it was caused by the temp going from 18-21 for me to about 16. I think the Yeasties went to sleep.

I gave a very gentle stir and its well a truely unstuck now.

That's probably wants happened here too I'll try stirring. Just been for bucket and aquarium heater so should be OK next time, thanks for help
