Hi guys just saying hi, as im a newbie.

I have made a few bottles of wine a few years ago but it didn't taste nice to be honest, I never tried beer because I thought it was harder, how wrong was I.

Currently brewing a Coopers Australian lager its been in the FB since last saturday and seems to be going well I also have a wine going from a kit I had left.

Just one quick question for ya, the guy at my local homebrew store told me not to fit an airlock to my fermentation bin and just put my lid on and leave a bit of it open, is this ok?

Welcome to the forum, and good luck with your first brew

Airlocks on buckets are a waste of time in my opinion,

Welcome to the forum.. :thumb:

Airlocks.. ..are an emotive subject...I use them sometimes...it's entirely up to how you feel... :wha:

Ok cheers guys I did make a big error though I forgot to add sugar to my lager until I had already topped it up to 23l I then added sugar and stirred best I could, I think it's fermenting ok like.
