So it's time to build the heat exchanger for my herms set up. I have a small thermopot as the water bath and a kettle element, a 3kw burco boiler to be exact. So my question is after some brain scratching whether it's worth all the effort to work out where to drill the hole as he element is off centre so it's not a simple task of drilling in the centre. Do I keep this element or get an element that will stand inside through the middle of the coil. Or is there an easier method of finding where the hole needs to be.

I'd be thinking replacement, if the one you have fails, will the hole drilled be suitable for a replacement.
I'd also be getting 2 or 3 elements to suit the hole...long term hobby commitment...jic.

That element is pretty a replica of the one that I already have. I just thought there might be a straight one that would go vertically through the pot. I was using mac kiwis pot as inspiration

why dont you make one out of a tesco kettle and doctor element like i did :thumb:

use wine bottle to form coil :D

My only issue with that idea which I'd of done is that I already have a small thermopot specifically For the heat exchanger and a coil that was made for me

Sounds like a winner. Do you have any dimensions to hand so I can see if my coil can accommodate it
