I'm planning a pale ale:

95% MO
5% Crystal
1.5% Torrified Wheat

I have Aurora Hops AA 8.1% (Super Styrian) and Bobek (Stryrian Goldings) AA 5.2% that I'd like to use.
Is anyone familiar with these two? I've never used either before.

I'm thinking Aurora to bitter (and dry hop)
and Bobek to Flavour and Aroma

I dont think I can go too far wrong with the Bobek. But has anyone bittered and or dry hopped with Aurora before? I'd like to know if either is a bad idea.

ooohhhh nice  I've 100g of them in 'the den' ready for a brew :thumb:

This is what I'm thinking with my hop head on:

Batch Size: 25.00 L
Boil Size: 30.45 L
Estimated OG: 1.049 SG
Estimated Color: 6.4 SRM
Estimated IBU: 42.5 IBU
Brewhouse Efficiency: 72.00 %
Boil Time: 90 Minutes

Ingredients:
------------

5.00 kg Pale Malt, Maris Otter (3.0 SRM) Grain 93.46 %
0.25 kg Caramel/Crystal Malt - 40L (40.0 SRM) Grain 4.67 %
0.10 kg Wheat, Torrified (1.7 SRM) Grain 1.87 %

05.00 gm Magnum - 12 months old [8.00 %] (90 min) Hops 4.2 IBU
25.00 gm Aurora - BB - 2010 [8.10 %] (90 min) Hops 19.6 IBU
25.00 gm Aurora - BB - 2010 [8.10 %] (30 min) Hops 14.0 IBU
25.00 gm Bobek - BB - 2010 [5.20 %] (5 min) Hops 2.3 IBU
25.00 gm Aurora - BB - 2010 [8.10 %] (3 min) Hops 2.3 IBU

To many bleedin hop additions.

1 at 90 minutes 1 at 15 minutes and 1 at 80C steeped for 30 minutes

all these additions at 1/2 minutes apart are fartin into the wind

TBH Aurora and Bobek are very similar (Aurora are more intense) so mixing the two is a waste of time.

Personally I would go with 50g Aurora for 90 minutes
50g Aurora 15 minutes
50g Bobek Steeped at 80C for 30 minutes

But watch out for that hop flavour it's big and it's raw . . . Think Brewdog beers . . . If that is what you are after then great.

Pretty much; any thoughts on dry hopping with Aurora? You seem to be the only one I've found so far that's tried them. Are they particularly grassy?

I don't dry hop, Personally I wouldn't think that Aurora is suitable, and you would have better results from Bobek

I`ve used aurora as a single hop beer and it was superb. As aleman said I would keep it simple. I used 50gms for 90 and 20gms last 15, that came out a well balanced beer.

It's not that complicated really if you read between the lines;
Its a hand full of pre-boil Magnum to help with the boil over.
a 90 min addition
a 30 min addition
and then in the last 5 min
chuck a load in, stir in,
chuck a load in, stir in
Cool to 80'C,
chuck a load in (thats what i think of as a 0 min addition)
Dry hop
