Hi Guys,

Santa has been kind :) and bought me a 125kw plate chiller from http://www.homebrewbuilder.co.uk/cooling.html and I'd like some help with fittings please guys. I would like to connect a thermometer to the wort out port, have any of you done this? I have read that using a dial thermometer does not provide a fast enough reading to get the desired temperature.

Can someone recommend what fittings to use for the wort and what thermometer to use? I'm guessing digital would be best.

I think I need a couple of 1/2” CAM & GROOVE - PART A and 1/2” CAM & GROOVE - PART C incl Silicone gasket with some of the SILICONE HOSE 12mm ID x 21mm OD from here: http://www.homebrewbuilder.co.uk/transferring.html but I'm not sure what to use for the thermometer.

Many Thanks

I used normal brass hozelock fittings and vossys silicone hose I also added a a small tap mesh filter which you can get from any hardware store it works great I have looked at a thermometer which can screw on between the outlet on ebay not invest dinone though

I did as Eddie at 1st but have changed over to stainless with time, it's personal choice

Yep, a few have done it, my bigger GPHE but same theory, doesn't surprise me re the dial thermometer.
The pic below shows wort outlet front, water inlet behind, both have PT100's fitted, so I can monitor water temp in and wort temp out, ott but my choice.

Thanks for the advice here. Sorry for my delayed response!

I went for the stainless bits in the end as I too love a bit of the shiny stuff! I haven't yet installed a thermometer but I will do eventually, all this shiny stuff does get a little expensive...

Cheers

Vossey, what's your plate chiller? Where did you get it from? It looks like one that
You can take apart and clean
