About to take on my first ever brew using a coopers kit athumb.. can't wait! thank you to those that have helped me already, i feel confident that it will turn out okay :laugh8:

hope everyone is well, and enjoy the rest of the weekend!

Welcome Mike.
I'd never heard of Cooper's kits until I joined this forum, and they seem to be quite popular. Just googled the range to see what they do. Which one are you making? Is this your first ever brew or just your first Coopers?
I know the bottled beers, by the way, their pale ale's quite drinkable.

hi :) first brew and first coopers! im doing the mexican cerveza one but following a recipe to put calypso hops in.

and yeah for sure! it appears they make nice beer! have you seen any that you would like to make? acheers.

My pocket's not really adapted to kit beers, but I've just had a good ferret around on the "research samples" shelf and found these three little beauties. I'll give them a good sampling this evening and have a go at copying one of them. I've always found the Pale Ale ok, not so keen on the Sparkling and I've never tasted the Vintage. Thanks for the inspiration. (typo corrected)

where on earth did you find sample beers? do you have a specialist beer shop nearby? or supermarket job?

ive only gone the kit route to gain some experience :D but i enjoy lagers and corona style beers so figured the mexican one was worth a try!

Everyone (nearly) starts with kits. It's a good way to learn and not too much outlay on equipment all at once. Kits are a lot better now than when I started, I'm told. Worked with liquid malt extract and grain up until the time they put VAT on malt extract, then went all grain. Part of the goodness of homebrew, which adds loads to the flavour is NO duty and NO VAT.
I'll come back to you on the samples, got a tree to cut down.

Absolutely, There's no point in brewing anything other than your favourite beer. I order my "research samples" online. There are plenty of online sites, I think BeersoftheWorld or something like that is one of the UK ones. Here in France, I use saveur-biere.com. Their prices are, by and large, quite crazy, but they also do some ridiculous sales, like up to 70% off. Then I go in for the kill as it's only 3,99 euros for delivery of however big an order. Check them out, they are in English or French. They were doing an offer of short-dated bottles for 24 euros for 24 bottles, there were some stunning beers in the mix, but also some "fruit soda" beers -and a bottle of Corona!. Eh bien, à chacun son gout, as Dell Boy used to say.
Happy brewing.
