Hi all!
A quick introduction: I'm a beer lover living in the Egyptian desert since 2005.
Originally from London (via all over the place), I moved to the Sinai to spend as much time underwater, and away from the rat-race, as possible!
Whilst being an exceptional place for diving, it's a total desert for proper beer over here. After eight years and many gallons of the local (gopping) lager, I've decided enough is enough: I need to start producing my own beer :thumb:
I'm not in the UK very much, but am planning to be in blighty next month and will be picking up a couple of kits and a few odds and ends to start a couple of brews.
Now, one concern I have got is temperture... The overnight low here at the moment is around 26degC, about the same as my aircon is set. I've waited til winter is starting before preparing to start brewing, but am I going to have problems? I can drop the aircon down to 20 ish, but that would be pretty power-hungry!
Any tips or pointers?
Cheers all,
Jim

You need a brewfridge. A fridge with its temperature control circuitry replaced by something that lets you set it where you like. Over here we often need to add a heater - not going to be a problem for you! There are threads somewhere on how to make one.

yes get yourself a brew fridge made for fermenting your beer in, makes life a lot easier and uncomplicated..

I'm still trying to figure out how you go to the desert to enjoy diving......

Cheers guys, I was hoping to have an easy first go to see if it was worthwhile! Reckon I might have to wait a while until the air temp drops a fair bit more and then rely on the aircon... If it works out ok, I will look to source a fridge before the summer.

Diving over here is very, very good- the whole coastline is made up of coral reefs. I live in the Sinai, so spoilt for choice really!

Hi and welcome, I know a couple of people that have dived around that area, full of praise for the place.

I've been diving from Dahab - is it the Blue Hole, north of there? excellent place!

the confluence of the red sea and the gulfs of Aquaba and Suez, create the currents needed for the nutrients for the coral and fish etc.
