Hi Guys

My names Chris ,I'm a complete novice when it comes to home brew, just brought a kit from the Range last Friday all i need now is a keg i believe? found this site via Google so I'm looking to learn and ask advice :)

If you want a keg your best bet is probably to go and see the bloke on Black'eath market at the weekend.

Otherwise, why not bottle?

You can re-use any plastic pop bottles, or start scavenging around local pubs etc. for glass beer/cider bottles, in which case you will need a crown capping tool and a bag of caps.

Only other piece of advice I would give at the moment is, don't buy anything else from the Range :nono:

Thanks for the link Moley, not been to Blackheath market before, kinda new to the area originally from Portsmouth. But its only up the road so i will have a look up there this Friday thanks.

Range have only recently jumped on the homebrew resurgence bandwagon, I've only had one brief look at their selection and I have no idea how good their kits are. However, if you spend twenty quid on a beer kit you should NOT have to add sugar!

Take a look at the premium two-can kits around that price, double the malt extract and no sugar required.

I wanted to find a senior staff member and ask if they had made a mistake pricing their bags of wine corks but the wife dragged me away. If I recall correctly they were £2.39 for a bag of 12. By comparison I pay 75p/doz from my LHBS (Local HomeBrew Shop), and I think the Blackheath HBS has them loose in a fermenting bucket @ 6p each.

I had a look at the range stuff. The kits do appear to be expensive. I wonder if they are pricing with a view to discount later? Not tried one so don't know the quality.

Reading the marketing info that came with it, it says the manufacturing process is different than the kits in tins so that the flavours are improved - and from my results at least it appears to be true.

Also I got the kit just after Christmas and there was a promotion on for 1 kit and equipment pack for £29.99 which seems better value.

That sounds really promising Paul, you brought it for a good price there. I paid 20 for The kit that included everything to get you started. All I had to buy was the sugar, IPA kit and some storage. Abit pricey now that iv researched bit at least most of the stuff is reusable :)
