I have only brewed 2 beers so far and while I have been pleased with the results the one let down on both of them has been the head retention.

I popped down to my local home brew shop yesterday and they recommended beer heading liquid. It is supposed to be added just prior to bottling, now I would of thought this was the worse time to be stirring up your brew as all the sediment will be mixed back into the brew and will end up in the bottles.

So has anyone else used heading liquid, did it improve the head retention and did it clear in the bottles?

Cheers

You can transfer to another vessel if you have one to stir it in, I recommend doing it anyway because you can leave the sediment behind entirely then and stir in your liquid, priming sugar, and not have the trub to worry about when bottling.

I've used it before, it does make a difference but the head is weird compared to natural head - sorta like soap suds, hahah.

Did you make kit beers? If so, what are you making them with, 1kg sugar? Using DME or Beer Enhancer will add plenty of head and body, as will patience before drinking. :)
