Got a couple of these kits recently, first one an "old English" i am barrelling in the morning, the second a "Bards Bitter" I am making in the morning.
My question is simply this. I am new to beer making and only done a few wet kits to date, but have to say I was impressed with the ease of making, (followed the instructions to the letter) Results also look promising so far.
So, does anyone on here use these kits? like them? change anything to make them better.
They are certainly cheap enough, so are they any good?

Well, if no one else is commenting, i will. the old english is made, been in the barrel for a month, and is nicely clear. Trouble is, it started so very promising, tasting really hoppy when first fermented, did not appear to ferment much, looked finished after 4 days and was never very vigorous, but I left for 7 days and fg was 1,006. appeared promising after a week, but now is just VERY sweet and not at all pleasant, almost tastes like the suger never fermented out!
Basically if this is how its meant to be, I am not impressed!
any ideas?
Is it possible to add more yeast and re ferment? I know my mother used to do this with wine.
If not I fear this will be my first disaster and it will get dumped!
any and all comments appreciated.

Hi,
I've made a few kits and have found them satisfactory and some not so, but overall good results - however I'm now going to brewing my last kit beer before exploring AG brewing to get a better beer and customise/choose more freely.
It may be that the conditioning temperature of your beer is the issue and that you need to cool for at least a month to alter the taste (as the temperatures have been climbing).Hope this points you in the right direction.
