I had the same problem as you frisp. I found the only way round it was too gind the dimple open on the inside of the pot, where the bit has dented the metal. Once the slightest opening was ground the normal metal bits worked straight through it.

FWIW on most of my pots I went straight through with the hole saw auber bit...no stepping up in size. The only time I had the problem your having is when I tried to step up in bit sizes

The pilot bits on My Bosch holesaws go through the NO pots without incident.

I always use a centre punch first though!

Boys got my cobalt drill from RS components today......... Jaysus all I have to say If I was a piece of stainless then these things are the spawn of satan.

4.5mm dropped through the dink that I had hardened like a whores heart like it was aluminum. hit it with a 10mm and it did the same. Only needed one squirt of water on each hole to cool.

Thinking my earlier drilling had made the job easier. I timed the next hole I drilled 4.5mm, then 10mm and Qmaxed the 21mm hole in under 3 minutes that included changing the drills..... Jaysus..... I am never going to buy an HSS drill bit ever again

glad it worked out for you mate :thumb:

those bits will certainly last you a fair while for further DIY ventures
