I grew some last year, unfortunately they were an ornamental variety, but it was still interesting. I'd say get a dwarf variety, otherwise you'll need a 10/12 foot plus trellis!
As I'm sure you know, you want to be planting soon so they can overwinter in the cold. They are hungry plants so hopefully you've got a compost heap. They are also quite deep rooted so best planted out rather than container.
I'll be growing some again this year but haven't decided which variety yet.
