Tongue In Cheek

Hello everybody! I’m new to London’s east end and looking around for fellow members of the homebrewing community. Seems like I’ve found them!
My wife and I (no kids) relocated from Chicago the other month and my brewing gear has just been delivered, so I’m ready to get to work! My equipment set is pretty basic - just some large pots, plastic buckets and glass carboys. I haven’t got anything for temperature regulation so it's almost exclusively ales I'm working with. Though I did brew a marzen a few years back without any real temperature controls, and it turned out very tasty! The place we’re in has a very cool cellar, so I’m thinking of having another go at a lager this winter - maybe a maibock. But first, something simple and quick that will be ready to drink soon - I think a roasty mild will be just the thing.
I got started with homebrewing in 2013, after returning from London to Chicago. My friend had been homebrewing since his university days - while it’s not legal for someone younger than 21 to buy alcohol in the US, it is totally legal to buy all the ingredients for homebrewing! I imagine his first batches of dormitory homebrew must have been pretty rough stuff… But I was fascinated, and picked up a copy of Charlie Papazian’s The Complete Joy of Homebrewing. Read it cover to cover, and I’ve been brewing regularly ever since! I set up my home brewery in Untappd (Tongue In Cheek) where I like to post the brews I've created for family & friends to check in.
Somewhere around here in one of these boxes is the rest of my brewing library. I downloaded the water quality report from my local supplier - very different profile from what I’m used to working with! Now I’ve just got to find a good source of supplies, and I’ll be ready to go! It looks like there aren’t too many physical shops around London, from what I’ve been able to find? Looking forward to conversations with you all to find out more about how things are done here!
