Greetings from Bristol!

Hi, total nubie here, woke up a few weeks ago and thought to myself wouldn't it be cool to brew my own beer. Only problem was the wife who wasn't keen on me brewing in the house which only left the garage (wasn't going to argue as she's 8 months pregnant).

Started reading up on brewing and soon realised the importance of temperature consistency. A leaking tin roof prefab concrete garage is far from consistant so I set about building a fermentation fridge and temp controller (never one to do things by half)

Got hold of a fridge and all the bits I needed, ordered my Coopers DIY beer kit (Canadian Blonde) and was all set! Unfortunately it then took 3 weeks for my STC-1000 Controller to arrive via snail post from China!. Finally arrived yesterday, so assembled and cooked up my first brew this afternoon.

All seemed to go well thanks to lots of time watching YouTube and reading forums , manly this one. Now only time will tell, hopefully my 1st experience will be a good one or it's all going on eBay!

Your brew will get better with practice, I'm a newbie myself, but have been brewing like a good un to build up some stock, my first brew was 'OK' my second was quite nice, the third is still maturing, but the taste test as it was kegged indicates the best yet

Rather than the Coopers one tin kits, take a look in your local Wilko, see if they have a Woodforde's Wheery 2 can kit for £22, they are relatively easy to brew and much nicer tasting than a 1 can kit witout any additives :)

You're lucky being in Bristol, there is a steady supply of second hand stuff on eBay near you, very often for cheap if you have patience, so if the bug bites you can kit up quickly and cheaply :)

Very true - also keep an eye on Trade-it (the local ad rag). It seems to be the place for people wanting to dump their kit (generally after a directive from STMBO) for next to nothing. Last week I got 3 demijohns, a pressure barrel and a load of airlocks all for a fiver!

Thanks for the warm welcome. Will keep you posted on the virgin brew. Not a lot doing at the moment. Hopefully fermentations started, I guess only time will tell!
