Hi all!!
Ive joined this forum in an attempt to maybe find where I can source some ingredients (if its even possible) from an old family Recipe from the 1920's. I am hoping to do this for my fathers birthday, but i must admit even with just starting my search I'm rather overwhelmed by all the info that's out there. Is this even the right forum for this sort of thing? An example of what I'm looking for is - Malt from W. J. Robson & Co. - English, Norfolk (4 Bush) and the only reference i can find to the company is in The British malting industry since 1830
By Christine Clark. While many of the companies on the list don't exist anymore is there equivalent malts? and how would one go about searching for these

Thanks.

I don't think that company exists anymore in the UK, and as for equivalent malts :hmm: today's malts tend to be more highly modified than the era you are trying to emaulate.

Your best bet would be to go Here and buy Old British Beers and how to make them, by the Durden Park Beer Circle.

They have done a lot of research into old british beers and there are prescribed methods of creating old Malt styles, in the back, it really is a good book and probably your best bet.

Cheers & Gday

thanks unclepumble - that should be a great start, and yes most of the companies from the recipe don't seem to exist but a number have merged might get lucky. Except EDME its still around :) and selling the malt i need.

again my thanks.
