Great way to get a beer on a Monday afternoon tell the wife its all about education haha

Probably being a bit fussy m8 have been brewing pales and ipas recently and the heads have been good in general lasting all the way,I think I get better results bottle priming and I batch primed this which I know is the preferred method of most brewers but being not too experienced yet a lot of it is about appearance ie a lasting head....tastes great tho cheers folks for your input. You don't head all the way down, clean non detergent on your glasses can help.. I certainly don't find lager keeps head well anyway..

You may find in the coming weeks it gets better anyway

That's the best looking one I have had out of 5 bottles,I think my glass was clean detergent free as I only ever use water on it but I star sanned it anyway and drunk it at outside temperature without putting it in fridge, cold enough here for that and it was good ta m8 lagerlad

Just use water to clean your glass, you don't need starsan. It will come down to ingredient choice. Has mentioned you will never get a full 2 inch head all the way down.

I used to get hung up on head retention. Different beer styles have different levels of head retention, and the higher the alcohol level, the less retention you'll have.

I finally stopped worrying about it when I realised that some of my very favourite bought beers had poor retention. Last night I tried a Belgian Quadruple for the first time, it was incredible, but had very little head retention.

Btw, does the beer taste any good?

Your glass might not be "beer clean" meaning residual soap from washing will destroy head retention

yes marty the beer tastes fine ,maybe the retention will improve with time maybe i am too fussy better drinking with my eyes shut....that happens sometimes haha....matellis glass is only ever rinsed by me it never goes near the dishwasher, she always has plenty other stuff to do :nono:

this is what tends to happen to me, also when I serve ales to cold. Doesn't seem to be too much of an issue of I leave the beer to "warm" up a bit for 1/2 hr out of the fridge and make sure I give the glass a good rinse before pouring
