have brewed a DJ of white wine using this Grape powder.

http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/710-5...0001&campid=5338413729&icep_item=282118668001

after reading lots on here, I went for 1.1kg sugar, pecto, Campden, nutrient and the yeast that came with the tub of powder and 100gms of the grape powder itself. Very easy to make up.
it fermented out to 990 so about 13%, I didn't take OG reading as I didn't top the DJ up to full volume until after racking.

anyhow, we had a bottle last night. it tasted quite strong, the alcohol was overpowering the flavour a little bit, and the body was a little thin. but all in all, not bad for first attempt with it.
I started another DJ today but adjusted to 1kg of sugar and 150gms of grape powder. we will see...
some pics attached.
anyone else tried this

I've done the red... turned out pretty damn good. In fact, someone on this very forum donated it to me. Think I'll buy some in the near future as our stock of reds is dwindling at an alarming rate.

Stick to the amounts recommended for the reds (form memory 550g for 23l). I made a few batches that where very nice then tried one made with 750g (for 23l) and it wasn't nice at all. If you want to give it more depth add and some red berries.

I've also just tried the mango powder and it's now ready to bottle. It has little if any taste (certainly not mango) and I'm now going to try and get some flavour in it with Lowicz syrup.

I am going to try the red grape powder and see if I can bring up the body (from what I've read) with some concentrate, maybe some juice if I can find it at a reasonable price and am trying to see if it is worth farting about with tannins, acid blend and so on. From experience cheap wine kits that require sugar/mostly contain sugar from a bag are quite light in body. I'm hoping that a wine with 50% of the concentrate than ideal though cheaper and lower in body can be improved by the powder.

How does this powder compare to say the wilko wine concentrate? Just wondering as I'm thinking of maybe getting some to do a couple of Wows with

The red will not add any body or sugars but will add tannin/acid and general red wine flavours. It also works out cheaper than concentrate and works well with red berry WOWs.
Of the powders I've tried I would only buy the red and rosehip again.
