I’m currently brewing an APA (aiming for a session able 3.5 abv)

What roughly would be the recommended gram per litre of dry hop? I’m aiming for on the hoppy end of the scale!

I’m thinking approx 7g/L?

What hops are you using? The "C" hops are there are 2.5g per litre but I could see triple that being rahhhh! I see some people doing 400 g / 20 g/l dry hops all over the place, though.

It's a bit like Mr brownstone for me, in the words of guns n roses

"I used ta do a little but a little wouldn't do
So the little got more and more
I just keep tryin' ta get a little better
Said a little better than before

If we got quality American style hops wed prolly only need 10g a litre
But we get the dregs so need 20+

4-10g a litre depending on the abv and style. Something American at 3.5%, I'd personally use 4-5g, probably 4g. Anything more would kill the balance and mask the base beer.

Well this has amazed me a bit. I have an IPA on at the moment and was planning to dry hop with 100g Citra pellets when it’s fully fermented out for 2-3 days in the hope of getting something that resembles Adams Ghostship. Will I need more than 100g?

My current aipa has 8g/L and is nicely hoppy without being OTT (IMO) - I reckon 4-6g/L in a 3.5% ale would work well.

EDIT: although I'm up to 12g/L in the apa in the FV athumb..

I used 180g in 20L for my Brut IPA and I’ve been really disappointed with the outcome. If you smell it really strongly you get a bit of pineapple but it’s hardly bursting with aroma. It was maybe the hops I used rather than the volume though as I was feeling a bit “adventurous”.

Is it because it’s a Brut? I just opened the first bottle of my first batch of Brut last night and am also disappointed with the hoppy ness!

Possibly. Maybe the dryness doesn’t carry the aroma as well or something? That could be right because I was disappointed with the impact that 150g citra (not all dry hop) had on my citra saison as well.

I think you should more than exceed ghost ship as that only has some citra waved it so I suspect you will be pleasantly surprised. Dependant on the quality/age of the hops you have.

I had a pint of ghost ship on cask in a pub a little while ago - much hoppier than the bottled version and much better than expected.
