Why is Dingeman's MO £44.30 cheaper than Crisp's £47.40 at GEB? And Munton's is £40 at THBC. Someone's got their feet in the trough and I think it's Crisp. Dingeman's is £32.79 at Braumarkt and Château MO is £38.40 at Autobrasseur. Worst of all is the Hike in the cost of Mich malt which was always at a budget price. Another maltster jumping on the bandwagon.. £36,30 from a small supplier, Tucker's in Crediton (I think it Simpsons or Warminster). Keep a weather open and don't get ripped off.

Checked grain price today at THBC £40 for 25kg of most grains at GEB £49.50 for MO. I bought 25kg from Staffs Brewery in Leek last week for £28. Plus a nice day out.

It was a price comparison by AA and since MM, GEB, THBC all charge extra for shipment a very good comparison.

For anyone around Nottingham, Murphy and Sons are selling off various bits that are.nearing their use by date. Worth checking out their web site. Noticed they have 25kg Golden Promise for 10 pounds!!

Sigh - no, it's probably just a case of old inventory that predates the big price hike on the 2023 harvest. When you have a sharp rise like this it takes a few months to work its way through the supply chain, and the stuff that gets used the most - like domestic base malt - will be the first to get onto the new harvest and the new pricing.

You may get people taking the mickey on a handful of niche items with no great competition but it's a joke to say that people are profiteering in a market as competitive as base malts. All parts of the brewing supply chain are suffering at the moment, it's more a question of not going bust - as so many commercial breweries are doing at the moment.

Long gone the days of £19 for a sack of minch malt

First bag of grain I bought was Minch Pale Malt in 2016 and was around €20 as I was on holiday and picked it up from the shop in Mountmellick.
