Have you done the summer lightning? I plan on having a crack at it for friends. Not sure if I should try it with London ale3 or not.

I've only done the Exmoor gold and some similar brews based on it where I substituted the hops, I just remember comparing the 2 at some point and looking at slids reply above it's probably because I prefer lower abv that I've not done the summer lightning.

Perhaps I misread the book as I thought it was lower ABV. Will have to modify it as I would like something around 3.5%

Using 4kg instead of 4.5kg of pale malt for 25L should do it OK. You could also shade the bittering hops down a bit to compensate, if you think ~40 IBUs is a bit much?

Not for me but would it be appropriate for style and ABV? I don't have a clue.
