very happy with this kit just like the mild from when i was young, brewed with dark spray malt and brewing sugar and fermented down to 1012 then put in the keg with 80gr of sugar, after a month its a real nice session drink not too much body but nice subtle flavours come through and is going down very well. will do this kit again for sure

Thinking of trying this kit as I was weaned on Banks's Mild

Thought I may try adding either 1.5kg can of Cooper's Amber or Dark liquid malt extract to it though for extra body.

My mate brewed this just before last xmas with 1kg of dark spraymalt after3 weeks in the keg it was a lovely pint,at the time it was the best homebrew id tasted as we are new to the brewing lark, there was non of that homebrewy taste i had with my first brew which was a john bull mild with brewing sugar.he also gave me one of his bottles which i drank last week it turned out to be pretty much tasteless,so when i brew this beer i wont bother with bottles, much better out the keg.

ive just finished drinking this kit i made it with cane sugar and put it in a pressure barrel i only left it ten days (no self control)
a guy at work allways makes this kit with cane sugar and keeps telling me how good it is
i normally use spray malt with my kits but i thought id try it his way it came out a bit thin in body but was clear and tasted nice
with a good head
i will make this kit again but not with cane sugar
ive done dearer kits that have tasted far worse (milestone)
the only downside is it dont last long :D

I tried this kit myself a while back, wasn't too bad considering the price. I'm giving careful consideration to buying two of them and brewing them together to 40 pints. Anyone tried this? Worth a go?

Picked one of these up cheap (less than £6) from Tesco, so put it on earlier today...

Brewed it to full 23l using 1kg muntons brew enhancer (also half price from tesco at less than £3). Also added 260g of sugar. So, all in all, will be 40 pints for £9 max - works out at just over 22p a pint. If the taster from the FV is anything to go by, this will turn out to be a stonking drink. OG came out at 1.044 (temp adjusted, originally 1.043 @ 21'c). Should come out at anything between 4% and 5% depending on how far it ferments down... Sounds ideal to me if the taste stays as good as it was from the sample...

same as above Ive got this in tesco
used muntons kit enhancer, a jar of malt extract from holland & barret and two heaped tablespoons of black treacle.
sg was 1050 and after 4 days its down to 1012. ill check it tomorrow again to see if its dropped anymore, if not ill keg it and leave it a month.
will update after i taste it :thumb:

I'd say you should leave it at least until the end of the week. Preferably 10-14 days...

Will website fermentation has completely finished, and allow the yeast to clean up after itself...

i have tried this kit using normal sugar but only brewed 20lts as i wanted it a little stronger than a normal mild was in fv for 10days then bottled 7 days later tastes ok but still very cloudy anyone else had this problem? sg was about 1040 and finished around 1000?

Made this kit a few months back; I put demeira sugar, honey & medium DME in mine. Think I had about 0.5oz of Tettnang hops left over so it got dry-hopped. However, probably one of the nicest Geordie kits I've made - mine has a caramel/toffee taste and it was also further conditioned for a week or so in a FV before bottling. Only 5 pint bottles left; most were given away to friends at parties who loved it...especially some of my Midlands mates.
Recommend it for sure; in fact, I think i'll be buying another one soonish.

I keep coming back to this one. If you can bottle it and wait a little, it really does improve even further after a couple of months, especially if you use a muntons or geordie beer enhancer.

I brewed this about a month ago. Had fermented out after about 9 days, and was in a rush to get this barrelled before goin on hols. So, legged it went with 90g sugar. A month later, and the taste is just about drinkable, but nothing like I was expecting & hoping for after the taster when brewing. Got another t0 do from the tesco sale, but not got high hopes for it... Brewed with 1kg munitions brew enhancer...

Nothing to do with the geordie mild (got one to start myself) BUT loving the pic of the fizzy (i had a purple one with a yb100 engine  (got a cbr600 now)

I was always happy, it was just quite a shock when it appears! Also sad, as it was my first bike!!

HaHa :D :D It was my first bike too, I had a lovely red coloured 'fizzzy' my pride and joy as a 16 year old.......happy days! :thumb:

Sampled my first one of these after two and a half weeks in the bottle. Didn't have high hopes, the fermentation looked very inactive and I thought it might have stuck, but bottled anyway as it got to 1.011.

I'm pleasantly surprised, it's cleared and carbonated nicely and is very drinkable - I agree with the toffee/caramel comment

First kit brew (done partial mash and all grain before). Just finished pitching the yeast. Brewing above the 23l, about 25l in there. Added 1.2kg of Munton's light LME and 150g of brew enhancer. Also compensated by steeping the Munton's before a boil with 60g of Chocolate malt. Wort tastes a bit more bitter than I was expecting, and the OG has turned at 1.036, which I assume is due to some of the canned extract not mixing that well. Oh, and instead of the packaged yeast I pitched the Mangrove Jack's Newcastle Dark Ale.
