Hi all i have 2 ale brew's im about to 2nd rack but i'd like to clear it as best i can, so i was goin to use geltine, if i do this and then bottle with primary sugar, can i expect any carbonation to take place in the bottle? will the yeast have been pulled out of solution by the gelatin or not :?: Help please
Thanks

I've got a couple of friends who use gelatin and never re-yeast at bottling. They say it works fine but may take a little longer.

I've never been brave enough to not add more yeast when I use gelatin. I've had batches that did not carbonate for various other reasons and it I try really hard to avoid that!

A lot of it depends on the quality of yeast that is still in suspension. Was this a high gravity brew that really taxed the yeast? Did it sit for months in secondary? Did you cold condition for an extended period of time? All of those will contribute to leaving very little viable yeast left in solution to do the carbonating. Not sure if this was helpful or not.
