What is it with the fruit flies this year?
I've just rinsed 7 out of an airlock, I had a garage full while brewing today, I counted 8 on the bathroom window yesterday and I'm forever fishing the little buggers out of my glass (I think I've drunk a few too).
And it's not just the last few days it's been going on for weeks.
Anyone else having trouble with the little f... blighters?

yep, you just cant leave anything out that they might like

I got some sticky fly paper for the shed from the pound shop and its cover after two weeks, think I need a good clean out and mop....might give the shed floor another coat of paint if I can be arsed

I found a couple of dead ones stuck to the inside of my FV after I'd siphoned the beer off into the keg. Don't think it has done any harm, it tastes fine and it has been kegged now for 4 weeks. I was much more careful with my last brew, I kept a carrier bag over the top if the FV just in case.

Oh come on! The spelling is the same and you would never put an apostrophe in there unless you were talking about something belonging to a fly or you were contracting “fly is” or “fly has”. For example, that fly's annoying me, that fly's come to the wrong house, that fly's life expectancy can be measured in seconds.

Time flies like an arrow, fruit flies like a banana.

I have a major objection to fruit flies in the kitchen, and Mrs. Mole has a major objection to me using fly spray in the kitchen.

She found those raquet zappers in The Range for under £3 and bought a couple - no more fly spray in the kitchen and I can have fun frazzling the little sods.

Solution to problem suits us both :thumb:

Them zappers are the dogs danglies. In a previous life I was sent to live on the west coast of Scotland in a mobile home next to a river. :nono: :nono: . I got eaten alive by peskie midges so I got a zapper. Great until a horse fly decided to investigate the light that didn't half make a bang.
