Frozen?!

ok well I seem to have had an issue where my fridge decided to stay on constantly for around 8hrs. I'm currently during the cold crash stage, and coming to it tonight it's kinda like a slush on the top. Temp sensor is showing -0.7 deg C. Will I have screwed up my beer or is it ok?

They say that you can accelerate the lagering process by getting the temperature below zero. Apparently a week at -1 is as good as a month at 2 or 3...

I have done this afew times when conditioning. Normally leave it at 0c but last AG i got a bit of slush on the top. Managed to do it to a corny keg as well under 15psi pressure, beer was fine but i know it ruins cask beer!

I was had the ingenius idea of making beer ice cubes so that I could chill a glass of beer without watering it down! Except when frozen beer melts, it tastes like absolute a*s! I would strongly recommend you skim that off and get rid.

I can only comment on what I see. It wasn't evident that this had been spoken about. No offence intended.

This forum has been a great source of information for me even before I registered and have never seen anybody get into trouble with mods. This is probably due to the speed at which the mods act and the fact that there is little evidence of such actions, due to posts being deleted.

Admittedly not home brew but in my younger, less experiences days, I put a can of lager in the freezer to cool it quickly. Only, I forgot about it and when I retrieved it I was greeted with a can of slush. Being a hot day I thought a beer slush puppy would be rather nice, I was sorely disappointed :sick:

They used to sell the "coors sub zero" at the National brewery centre, I'm not a massive lager fan but in the really hot weather it was very "refreshing" the head was like a slush puppy. The best bit was watching it being poured, the glass lit up and spun round lol :

They don't sell the sub zero any more but still sell the regular stuff, there are always some peeps that dont like to taste their drinks lol

The best beer for me there at the minute is the Worthington Red shield, I prefer it over the white shield

The beer "boutique" at the centre has a rally good choice of bottled ales from all over the place.
