Hi folks, just registered and thought I'd introduce myself,

My mates call me "Swingbaw", as my head has been known to burl round in circles after a few too many brews.
I'm from central Scotland, married with 2 boys and I'm fast approaching the big 40, but I'm still a big child.

I'm totally new to the brewing game and I'm very interested in brewing some alcoholic ginger beer, with your knowledge and help I'm sure I'll be on to a winner.

Cheers Richy

Cheers mate.

I've been itching to get brewing for a while but just keep getting side tracked with other things, so I'm looking to make a list of equipment & ingredient required then I'll be ready to get started.

Afternoon Swingbaw and welcome to the forum from further up north.
There is a good Ginger Beer recipe on the forum at

I've been making it now for 1.5 years on a regular basis and it works well, I'd suggest you take the zest off the oranges, lemons and limes and squeeze the juice from them - this saves getting the bitter pith into the brew.

Let us know how you get on. :thumb: :thumb:
