Wez when the beer's have been judged will the feedback be published on here or will the individuals recieve a PM with the verdict.

Thinking of taking a page in The Times

:D seriously though it'll be via PM and then individuals can chose if they want to post :thumb:

I'm trying to find a date that works for them and me at the moment, this time of year is busy for them (and me) so it's a struggle at the mo...

I haven't been able to get to the brewery...but....the tasting has taken place and below is the email I have recieved from them!

Well done all!

You'll be pleased to know that we judged the 4 entrants to the Xmas beer competition yesterday after work!

They were blind tastings done on six members of staff and we judged 3 categories (needed to keep it simple!), Flavour, Clarity and Aroma.

Flavour was marked out of 10 .... 1 not good !! up to 10 Excellent!!
Clarity was marked out of 5 .... 1 not good !! up to 10 Excellent !!
Aroma was marked the same as Clarity.

So the maximum score a judge good give for one beer was 10 + 5 + 5 = 20

Six judges therefore gives a maximum possible score of 120.

I’ll give you the individual judge scores i.e judge1, judge2, judge3 etc.... and then total.

Glen Brewery - Xmas Ale.... 16, 8, 6, 9, 12, 16 ....total = 67

Snail 59 - Firodas Festive Filler.... 14, 14, 9, 11, 12, 13 ....total = 73

Steve Speak - Scrooges Revenge .... 14, 12, 10, 16, 10, 13 ....total = 75

Rick the Brew - Santa's Dark Secret .... 13, 11, 12, 11, 12, 14 ....total = 73

Every judge (including myself) thought that the standard and quality of beers offered were superb. They were all extremely well made; indeed a regular comment passed during judging was that we had tasted far inferior beer from professional outfits! When a judge didn’t like a particular flavour it was due to the choice of ingredient used and not 'off' flavours from bacteria etc... I was personally very impressed with all the results and hope you will pass this on to the brewers involved.

I'll send you the recipe for the Forum do tomorrow, which should give everyone enough time to fire up their coppers!

If anyone wants to see individual markings on flavour, clarity and aroma let me know and I’ll send you them.

Once again well done to all involved and I’ll speak to you soon.

Firstly Congratulations to Steve on his win     .

If they have any notes or comments Wez I would be very interested in what they had to say about Firodas Festive Filler. Any feed back on how it could be improved would be much appreciated.

Now the tasting has been done I will publish the recipe for all to see in the forums recipe bit. FIRODAS FESTIVE FILLER RECIPE

 I won.....I'm well pleased....Thanks Wez for organising it and Cheers Snail for the kind words:thumb:

I am not sure if everyone knows but I am having to finish brewing due to personal family problems - However, receiving the feedback from the guys at the brewery has really cheered me up ;)

In conclusion, I would like to say a big thank you all for the help, advice and friendship during the time that I have been a forum member ( 2 yrs 3 months)

I'll post my recipe shortly...and if its ok with the Forum Moderators et al I would like to continue as a member as I do feel that I still have some valuable information and experience to share

As I've said before Steve, so sorry to hear this... but so well done on your brew! Congrats mate!

Sorry to hear about your problems Steve. I can see no reason why you would have to leave the forum because you do or do not brew. As for having valuable experience to pass on I would say you also have some good friends who would wish to stay in touch via the forum :thumb: . On a side note I'm not sure if my Dads Auntie Lives in Snaith but used to live in Rawcliffe or used to live in Snaith and now lives in Rawcliffe it's one of the two :D

Well done steve

No consolation but at least your ducking out whilst still on the top :thumb:

Keep putting your nose in or you will be missed by us all.
