That's the great irony, the FIFA video game is the most out of touch with kids. It's £50 to buy, generally just re skinned content hiding a gambling mechanic. You've more chance of winning the Euro millions than getting a GOTY Ronaldo or Messi. EA execs have been caught selling the rarest "Moment" players privately. Its user base is getting older and older as well but they don't really care when they're selling a football branded casino.

Yeah EA are in a way not the best example as they are a bit of a monster in the modern gaming world themselves with the way they sell games like fifa and battlefront with their loot crate / card systems.

It was more about the Fortnites and Apex Legends and rocket leagues and such
 
That was the point, the one most aligned to football is the most out of touch with kids.

As an example fortnite is akin to the pyramid system in that you can become the best player/team/squad without spending any money. The skins/season passes are enriching in the sense it's nice to have a pint or burger at halftime. Doesn't make your team any better but it's better losing 3-0 after a pint or two than not!
