Antonio Conte sacked: Tottenham undergo deja vu as Italian's exit raises familiar issues for Daniel Levy, Harry Kane and club

Tottenham have sacked Antonio Conte as Daniel Levy changes manager for the fourth time in four years; Cristian Stellini has been placed in charge of Spurs until the end of the season in scenes reminiscent to Jose Mourinho's exit two years ago

It's happened again. Daniel Levy has twisted the knife on yet another Tottenham manager - the fourth time in four years for the Spurs chairman.

Antonio Conte has joined Mauricio Pochettino, Jose Mourinho and Nuno Espirito Santo on the list of managers who have tried and failed to bring Glory, Glory to Tottenham Hotspur.

And for the second time in 23 months, a caretaker will take them to the end of the season. In 2021 it was Ryan Mason, this time the former Spurs midfielder will act as assistant to Conte's former assistant Cristian Stellini.

It all feels a bit too familiar for Tottenham supporters. So has Levy taken Spurs back to square one by repeating what he did two years ago? In fact, you could copy the entire Mourinho scenario and paste it into this season...

As a long time season ticket holder at Leicester Brendon Rogers gave me one of the best days of my footballing supporting days in a May 2021 a grown man standing in the crowd at Wembley crying with joy as I saw the FA Cup lifted for the first time in the clubs history the last time I was in tears during a Fa Cup Final I was a 14 year old losing in game to Manchester City in 1969 with a few days later getting relegated into the old division two
Over the last few months the teams performances have been nowhere near what the team have been capable of. I think that even Brendon Rogers would would have sacked himself as an outsider looking in.

Good look for the future and thanks for the memory

Fulham's Aleksandar Mitrovic has been given an eight-match ban by an independent commission after pushing referee Chris Kavanagh in their FA Cup loss at Manchester United.

The Serbia striker received a three-match ban for the sending off, three for violent conduct and an additional two for "improper, abusive, insulting and threatening" language.
He will also receive a £75,000 fine.

Fulham manager Marco Silva will serve a two-match ban after he was sent off.

In addition to an improper conduct charge for allegedly throwing a water bottle in the direction of the assistant referee, Silva was charged with misconduct for comments he made in a press conference following the FA Cup defeat.

Silva said in a statement he had apologised to Kavanagh and that he "regrets what happened" in the match on 19 March, after he was also charged with abusive behaviour towards match officials.

One game of Mitrovic's ban has already been served, meaning the forward will be available for Fulham's last three Premier League games of the season, the first coming at Southampton on 13 May.

Following Mitrovic's straight red card for protesting against Kavanagh's decision to send off Willian, the Football Association said its standard punishment for his dismissal at Old Trafford was "clearly insufficient".

The 28-year-old denied this but it was upheld by the independent commission, and Mitrovic separately admitted the charge that his behaviour and language after being sent off was improper.

In an apology to team-mates and the club's supporters, he said: "On a personal level, I regret my actions that led to me being sent off.

"I allowed my frustration to get the better of me, and how I reacted was wrong."

Fulham have also received a £40,000 fine for failing to control their players.

Former Premier League striker Chris Sutton had called for Mitrovic to be given a 10-match ban - which was echoed by former referees' chief Keith Hackett.

I have always liked MM he says it as it is and thought he may have saved them, i don't see the point in getting rid unless it was him that requested it they are 7 points from safety and are more than likely going down.

Blackpool 35

Blackpool FC announce manager Mick McCarthy has left the club by "mutual consent." McCarthy said: "After recent performances and results, I have thought long and hard and feel this is the best decision for everyone concerned with the football club."

Wrexham: Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney awarded freedom of city

Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have been awarded the Freedom of Wrexham.
The honour was conferred upon them just hours before the Dragons' 3-2 victory over Notts County at The Racecourse.
Wrexham AFC's owners attended the ceremony at the city's Guildhall on Monday.
The pair, who have made a documentary about the club, were awarded the county's top civic honour by the council in December.
Deadpool star Mr Reynolds said at the event: "I think back to that first moment. We were on Zoom speaking to the Wrexham Supporters' Trust and I don't think I have ever been as nervy as I was in that exact moment."
That was the point he began to understand something "truly great" could be achieved.

"I'm so touched I get to be a part of this story," he said.
"I know that we are here so that you guys can thank us for some reason, but I feel like it is the other way around.
"We want to thank you for what you have given us. Words are too clumsy to quantify what it means to me."
Forging connections between people who live on different sides of the world had been "the greatest honour" of Rob McElhenney's life.
The It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia actor said: "I firmly contend that connection of the people of Philadelphia, the people of Wrexham, I think you can find that in the middle of the United States, in the middle of Saskatchewan (in Canada), in Brazil, in China, I believe we are all the same.
"Very specifically working class people. If you saw in the show someone who looked like you or sounded like you, it's because they are you."
After the victory over Notts County Mr McElhenney wrote on Twitter: "I can't believe there was a time when I thought football was boring."
In December, council leader Mark Pritchard said: "These two Hollywood stars have had an incredible impact on both the football club and the community, and have helped catapult Wrexham onto the world stage."

Having been a supporter long enough to remember when we were **** (football fans will have heard that song) i neve count my chickens we may beat Arsenal on the 26th but it will be a hard game and after that its theirs to lost having the extra point, the champions league is the one we must win this season but i fear the banana skin is lurking.

But City have a game in hand. So it is in their hands. It is also in Arsenal's hands (if they avoid defeat against City).

We do have a game in hand and if we win it we will still be one point behind Arsenal so its Arsenals title to lose all they have to do is win every game and its theirs.
