Brewed with notty yeast, this is its 4th brew from same packet by using appox 3 quarters of 340g jar of yeast slurry, final grav of 1010,then crash cooled for 2 days, when i racked off the beer was crystal clear but had grape like clusters floating on top.I stopped them going into secondary.I want to know if notty loses its flocculation by reusing to many times.thanks in advance for advice.

The character of mutation is mostly dependent on local environment and yeast handling practices. In my brewing yeast gradually loses flocculation in favor of attenuation.

Never suffered with that, but if you use too much protofloc you can get clumps floating about. Although I would have said when it happened to me looked more like cauliflower than grapes.. :wha:

Thanks for advice, started new pkt of notty, when fermentation completed then chilled at normal fridge temp for 3 days, crystal clear and lumps of cauliflower yeasties stayed down so racked off no problem.
