Floating bits in my beer

Hello all,
I'm new to home brew, I'm on my third or fourth batch, all have gone really smoothly until my latest one, I opened up the lid to take a hydrometer reading after 2 weeks brewing and there are brown, kind of powdery bits floating on the top, is my beer off? It's a geordie yorkshire bitter kit I'm using the original gravity was 1.048 and is now 1.011, what should I do? Thanks

It looks like bits of yeast or froth, taste it and smell it, follow your senses, if its tastes and smells fine, clear it and bottle it
 
Looks fine to me, too. Just carry on and package it up in bottles or keg.
 
Thanks, I'll persevere with it, do you think it's ready to bottle now going by my hydrometer readings? It also smells slightly cidery..... I've never had this before, is this normal?

hydrometer says FG reading is stable hydrometer say package it and take not too much notice on taste at this very early stage
 
Give it a taste, you'll soon know if it ain't right

If had his before and can recommend you don't leave your brew on dead yeast for too long 😩
 
If it's at 1011 it's either done or very close to done. Personally I'd leave it another week just in case (if it's only been 2 weeks so far this definitely won't hurt) and then bottle / keg it.
 
Looks to me like krausen that has fallen back into the beer from the sides.

Perfectly normal and will be fine.

1.011 might be FG depending on mash temp and yeast used. Stable over 3 days? If so, proceed to your packaging steps :)
 
Geordie kits use Muntons yeast and I always found that they struggled to get much beyound 1012 so always bottled them then. The stuff on top is, as the others have said, yeast as far as I can tell. I would bottle now although you could leave it another week. I always leave mine for three weeks though I only do All grain now.
 
My ale nearly always has those 'floaters' after 2 or 3 weeks in the FV, so as others say it is fine and normal. I use Wilko Gervin yeast, which apparently is Nottingham at half the price.
