So, after drinking and eating in a delightful West Highland pub (Plockton) at lunchtime today, once again, I am dismayed at the number of people obsessed with the use of their cell phones and lap tops in a 'social' environment'! Jeez, I remember when you went out for a beer and some food and had a natter over such.... Not any more it seems, two thirds of the pub clientele were looking or tapping on there 'devices'.
I could maybe understand if we were in deepest London and people were 'doing business', but in a country pub !!!!

My missus says I need to chill a bit and it's a sign of the times....
I don't want to be in 'the times' :-o

I totally agree, we have people at work that check facebook every minute or so, its like they are scared of missing something, it really does do my head in, unfortunately i think your wife is right.

I recommend the Edgar Wallace pub in London. Apart from an excellent array of well kept beers, they have stern notices on the tables forbidding laptops and meetings, reminding customers that they are in a pub, not an office. Good sandwiches too.

Then again there are those that check the forum on their iPads every so often...

Just sayin'

I'm yanking your chain tbh, I agree if you're oot n aboot put the phone away.

I was amazed in Applecross a few years back how many folk were obsessing over mobile devices. I work in IT, but if I had the choice I wouldn't have a phone. I went to Applecross camping, for the sole purpose of driving the Bealach na Bà in my sensible estate car, so once away from the village there was virtually hee haw signal.
One of my pet hates is people in Supermarket queues yabbering away on cell phones while the cashier is trying to serve them. That is so rude.
