Hi paul when i made lager i used 1 teaspoon of sugar or 2 carbonation drops with ales i use half a teaspoon

I've used 1/2 teaspoon for my bottles but it's not that fizzy, gonna up my quantity for my next brew (Scottish Heavy)

Edit to Paul, I've read normal granualated sugar is just fine and that's what I've been using. The sugar is just to put the fizz into the beer and not affect the flavour.

I use half a teaspoonful of granulated sugar no matter what type of beer it is. It needs to be somewhere warm for a few days afterwards though - I use our airing cupboard by the hot water tank. Don't know the temperature but it's warmer than room temperature. And never had a problem with getting some pressure in there.

Hi Paul
What size bottles are we talking? 1 and 1/2 sounds plenty for 500ml and adequate for 750ml. It might be worth putting them back in the warm for a week.
Rob.
