Just bottled my first wine. A California Connoisseur, Zinfandel Blush. Made this for the other half to keep her happy whilst I start on my second Ale.

As expected she couldn't leave the wine to rest and uncorked the first bottle the very next day. I was pleasantly surprised. It has a strong Strawberry aroma to it and although it still has some sharpness to the taste it has some very fruity undertones which should hopefully come through after it has had time to mature.

Here's hoping she can wait till she starts on another one.

I remember the buzz i got from making my first kit and the pleasure we got from drinking it, i still make 30 bottle kits so i always have plenty wine in the house but i have now moved onto making juice wine which is much cheaper than the kits and you can experiment with different juices,

There is a thread of recipies here and a link to the Wurzels Orange Wine (WOW) thread that shows how to make it, let us know how you get in if you decide to give it a go.

Some great looking recipes on there. Think i'll give the WOW ago once my next ale has finished. At this rate i'm going to need another fermenter. :D

I have my five gallon FV on the go with 30 bottle kits most of the time and I use DJ's for my WOW' s.

I've done that kit. I didn't leave it to clear properly so it's slightly cloudy and now have a little bit of sediment in the bottles. However, the wine tastes great and I'm not disappointed, will definitely do the kit again at some point!

A quick heads up (others may not agree) for your first WOW try a Pomegranate to the recipe in the first post in the WOW Variant thread, i have given samples of the original orange wine and the apple version to friends and family and they all say the Pomegranate is by far the best.

I'll try pomegranate then, Chippy. I am starting a 23 litre batch of pineapple and white grape juice next week as its so lovely, but I'd better do a tester of a pomegranate one in a spare DJ soon :)
