We closed on our house one year ago today. Moving to Indiana from Northern California was the best thing we ever did.

In CA we had to live in a 240 square foot school bus because we couldn't afford even an efficiency apartment. In Indiana we can afford to buy a 1244 square foot house.
Petrol is almost $2 a gallon cheaper in Indiana.
Car insurance is almost $100 a year cheaper in Indiana.
You flipped a bus into a home?
It does sound interesting. Edit: this is what a couple people did in redoing a bus.

I was wondering if the OP was being colorful about the bus. When I looked, it's a thing. I think I might have used the word wrong though.
"Flipping" houses is just supposed to mean buy, fixing and selling, I believe. Probably should have said "transitioned" or something.

Our budget was way below what this would have cost. We called it barely surviving; nowhere near interesting.
Sorry to hear that.
I'm always intrigued by the ingenuity of people, like what came up right away on the search with the bus idea.
Personally, I wouldn't mind living in a mobile home with the wife and the pets, park one place and then move on to the next. Maybe half a year at a time.
