Hey folks!
I’ve made a couple of batches of lager and a couple of demijohns full of turbo cider so I thought I’d try my hand at making some wine in time for Christmas. I’d like to make a fruity red, and am thinking of using the recipe below.
2l Asda red grape juice
1l Asda Apple and blackberry juice
1kg sugar
Strong cup of tea (3 tea bags for tannin)
1/2 teaspoon pectolase
1/2 teaspoon yeast nutrient
Wilko’s express wine yeast
From my calculations (each carton of grape juice contains 160g of sugars, and the carton of apple and blackberry has 80g), it would take approximately a kilo of sugar to ferment the wine to 15%.
If anyone has any ideas as to whether this recipe would work, or if you can suggest changes I’d massively be interested. I want my first batch to be at least drinkable by the family post-Xmas lunch.
Thanks guys
Joe
