yeah ive asked about 10 different people and checked about 10 different website and youtube vids and everyone does it differently. I got 2 cornies on friday, my brew should be ready this time next week to put in them, i'll try leaving it at 15 psi for a week before trying then serve around 3-6 psi, then depending on carbonation levels i will increase or decrease psi methinks.

I am a really lazy guy when it comes to carbonating . . . plus considering my reg(s) and cornelii are in a chest freezer with a **** load of stuff on top. I really can't be doing with dropping pressure to serve, so I carbonate to the correct level (more or less) using the shaking method several times over an hour (extra take off on primary reg ;)) then transfer to the kegereezer and connect up to a tap and the gas . . switch gas on and leave it. I serve at 10C, Lagers get 15 psi, (and a 4-5ft length of 3/16" line) Stouts get 10 psi and (3ft of 3/16") Ales get 3psi (and 18" of 3/8 line), Cider gets 20 psi ( and 6ft of 3/16" line).

P*ssing about changing serving pressure ends up chasing your tail trying to set up an equilibrium with temp pressure and carbonation.

YMMV ;)

cheers for the help guys, i'll be kegging and carbonating my lager tonight and let you know how i get on with it :)

Just one question remains.

After syphoning to keg and purging out the oxygen, do you have to wait for a couple of weeks for the beer to mature or can you begin carbonating immediately? Even a fizzy version of what comes out of my fermenting barrel would taste ****.

Useful info in this thread....but as people say it seems everyone does it slightly different!

Having said that its quite reassuring as it means that it isn't too scientific and doesn't require pin point accuracy!!!!

Just got my first couple of corneys, reg and gas. I'll be transferring my Admirals Reserve into one in the next couple of days. Will probably stick to serving at 3 psi ish and see how I get on.....

Then I guess I'll spend all my time looking for an old fridge and decent beer taps and........... Does it ever end!?!??
