hi guys new to the forum but already gleamed some recipes  . Doing my first batches of basic turbo cider and vimto tonight, thought id start off with simple recipes before experimenting. My other kit brews have turned out ok but were getting a bit expensive but i must say my coopers mexican cervesa kit with lime extract tasted good before bottling.

anyway im going off topic ill post again after ive made up batches, with what been used and we shall see if i make it to a big batch.

happy brewing

Going to sample a bottle of my first Tc tonight, just put it in the fridge. I should let it sit for another few weeks but I cant wait, I hope its not to nice or my gallon will be gone before daybreak. Good luck with your brew. :drink:

okay so first batches are made and in demijohn's.

the cheeky vimto started fermenting within 30mins and within an hour had a constant stream of bubbles through air lock 12hrs later had slowed down to a bubble every 10-15 secs and when ive got home from work its about 1 every second.
i think this may become a strong brew as the OG was 1080 thats checking it twice.

the recipe i used was:
1ltr of vimto (standard)
150g sugar
and apple juice up to neck on demijohn
cider yeast pitched at 21 degrees

the turbo cider
this has been fermenting like crazy with 2 bubbles per sec for nearly 24hrs it had a thick yeasty head this morning which has now sunk again, and again this is very cloudy. the OG was 1050 at 23C

i used
1L water boiled and 200g sugar dissolved into it
and topped upto shoulder with apple juice.

will post again in a few days to see how its going

happy brewing

Don't think you can go wrong with cheeky vimto, I've done 3 brews now, 1st 8.2 % 2nd 8.6% 3rd 9.2%. Gets better every go. Only advice I can give is be careful when priming bottles, not had any explode but quite volatile when opening. Thats using 1/2 teaspoon of sugar in 330 ml bottles. Taste is unbelieveable though.

right then tc has fermented out so gonna check with hydrometer and bottle tonight any ideas how much sweetener to put in and how much sugar to put in per pint bottle????

the cheeky vimto is still fermenting like mad any ideas how long it takes to ferment out?

yeh i boiled it first for 20 mins added sugar to it for last ten mins of boil... you end up with 750ml ish

This sounds like a good idea. i may try this! thinking about making vimto tc for a few days now. I'll give it a go!

I have recently joined this forum because it seams everyone is very helpful. I started my first batch (2nd ever attempt at homebrew) of cheeky vimpto yesterday evening. The recipe I used was

1x 1ltr bottle vimpto boiled
150g sugar
4ltr of apple juice
1 tblsp Bread yeast

I first boiled the vimpto for 20 mins adding the sugar at the end. Added half the apple juice to DJ (all sterilised). Then added the vimpto/sugar mix. Topped up with juice then added the yeast. Which I soaked in alittle warm water and sugar first. Using my hydrometer the OG was 1.062. Does this seam about right??

The problem I have is I can see alittle froth/foam in the top of the DJ but there is no air
comming out of the airlock. The bung is a nice tight seal so I don't think I'm loosing any through there. Any suggestions. Should I leave it a day or so?? Should I add more yeast?? I didn't check the temperature of the wort before I added the yeast could I have killed it??

Any help will be greatly appreciated
