My first AG will be ready to barrel this weekend, it is ready now but i'm going to leave it a couple more days to clear a bit, anyway there is a load of floating yeast crud on top of the brew which won't sink, like clumps of swollen yeast stuck together. How do I get rid of them when I go to barrel my beer? I never recall having an issue with kits?

When you siphon the beer in to the barrel; as you get right down to the bottom those floater bits will just tend to rest on the lees and are not generally sucked up with the beer.

Just position your siphon as far away as you can from the major gunk and you should be fine.

I've had this too recently sice I swapped from Irish Moss to Protafloc. Don't worry, it will do exacly as Mark says - and I use a little bottler when transferring to bottles.

I used Irish moss and gervin yeast. I will have to see how it goes, I do have one if those cup shaped yeast trap things that go on the end of the pipe, hopefully that will help stop any crud going into the barrel? Thanks guys.

I kegged the beer today and some of the yeast clumps stuck in the filter at the bottom of the pipe helping to stop the bigger clumps going through.
