Hey all,

My father does a lot of work with fire extinguishers, and often get chrome/Stainless steel ones as scrap. Since these are a pressure vessel designed to hold liquid, and compressed under nitrogen, I was wondering what you think would happen in I put a load of stout into one. The vessels are rated for 14 bar, so should be fine for corny pressures of.. 20 Psi or so? I imagine the nozzle will be okay for it, as although extinguishers expel water much faster than a pump, the lower pressure should counteract this.

I just have a few questions;

Do you think this could actually work?
Do you prime something if you hold it under nitrogen
An extinguisher is 'top tap' with a pipe to the bottom, should I cut this down to reduce the chance of sediment being picked up?
Has anyone done this before

Regards, Ant

I wouldn't use nitrogen. The Pub used in Guinness and smooth flow beers ( :sick: :sick: ) is a mix of Nitrogen and CO2.

You would also have little or no control of gas once it is in ie you couldn't top it up easily would you :wha: :wha:

more pics of it in pieces......
might help others to see other possible solutions

great idea :thumb:
