hi guys i was just wondering if any of you were using finings to clear your brew if so which brands etc. if not will a beer clear naturally

Moved to “Beer Brewing Discussions”, and corrected the title while I was about it ;)

I've tried “Beer Brite” and I've tried gelatine, and I wasn't impressed with either.

I have just changed to Ritchie's “Kwik Clear” for my wines and have been seriously impressed. The box says “wine & beer finings” so I tried it in my latest brew. Still seriously impressed, crystal clear already, although the flip-side is that carbonation will take much longer.

However, all beers should clear naturally, given time.

I never saw the usage of the ‘D’ word, so thanks to all for the self-policing and to Leo for the edit :thumb:

Another tip:

THERE IS NO DOUBLE ‘N’ IN FININGS! :nono:

having only recently started to use isinglass (from rob the malt miller) i am exteremely pleased with the results. they are outstanding!

i had used the 'time will clear it' system ever since i have started in 1988 ( with large time gaps in between) but i would not go back to it.

it is true that isinglass is weird stuff and i would love to know how the first brewer discovered it's potential but at the end of the day it does a great job.

i am definitely a convert, fish guts in my beer are here to stay!
