Afternoon

Im still quite new to brewing and have added finings to all my brews but is it worth doing?

I know it reduces sediment in the bottles but once they are ready to be fridged the sediment more often then not hardens on the bottom and isnt and hasnt been a problem. And it takes less time to clear as we have less sediment

Can adding finings reduce the carbonation once in the bottles leading to under carbonated brews?

Do finings take out and drop yeast once added or does it just work on the floating sediment?

Sorry for all the questions but i only ask because i have a slightly under carbonated cerveza where 2 carb drops were added and thought this could be one of the many issues.

Thanks

Pete

In over 20 years I have never used finings for beer, and 99.99999% of my bottled beer was clear with very little sediment. Leave your beer at least 10/14 days in the FV and store your bottles in a cool place. And the more bottles you pour out you will get very skilled in leaving the sediment in the bottle!

Thanks for the reply

I normally leave mine in primary fv for 10-14days syphon over, add finings then leave for a further week then bottle.

I have a brew on at the moment and im going to try this without finings and batch prime for the first time. I like my lagers to be quite fizzy so what would you recommend for the amount of sugar required?

Thanks

Pete
