Fermenter size

Hi All,

I usually brew 40 pints at a time but I was thinking of making a half size batch so I can play around with a few things in smaller quantities. Is there anything wrong with fermenting a smaller brew in the usual size fermenting bucket or will all the extra air space there cause me a problem? Should I try and find myself a smaller bucket?

Can't see any reason why this should be a problem. The extra space will just fill with the CO2 created during fermentation.

I've brewed a couple of 10l batches in a 23l fermentor without problems so far if that gives you any confidence?! :-D

i'm doing the opposite to you Adam, i've got a 10 gallon wherry fermenting.

That's a pretty big bucket! No such thing as too much beer though.
