Hi all,

Ive just had a beer fermenting in its in1st stage since 06/05/17 will it be okay to still go ahead and bottle.

I don't normally do this I normally leave 3 weeks but I had a family emergency and had to go out of the country and only got back on Thursday.

There is not a bad smell to it.

The beers are

ST peters golden ale

Wilko stout with a full tin of treacle in there.

UPon looking at the fermenting bucket there is a slight film, on the top of both but I think that is just the krausen which is left over.

Any advice many thanks

I've heard of people going for 6 weeks primary before, it might not be optimal for what you were trying to make but should be drinkable. Could even be better!

Should be fine. A bad smell would be indicative of something wrong. If it smells ok, then your wort will be ok.

dont be shy to taste it either..

it will be fine, its been sat under a blanket of co2 that it generated protecting it from the o2 in the air.
you have just let gravity have a bit longer to pull out more sediment from suspension ;)

bottle as usual, but give em an extra week or so in the warm to condition as while there will still be millions of yeast in suspension more dormant yeast will have dropped out.. and an extra week or so in the warm to condition will be a belt and braces ;)

I will have a quick smell of it when I get home just to be sure, it may even turn out better.

One thing is for sure it will definitely have finished the primary stage. lol
