Hi everyone,

I brewed a (hopefully) delicious high IBU rye ale (all grain). I pitched the yeast 24 hours ago and there's still no sign of fermentation?

I realised the temp may be too high so measured it and it was 26 degrees. Will this have killed the yeast? Is there a remedy?

Cheers

nah yeast won't die below 30 at the least.

high ibu says a lot of hop oil to me which is probably inhibiting the yeast, so they'll take a while but they'll get there. did you aerate? if not give it a good splash about with a sanitized spoon.

Thanks Rob, that's good to hear - I was thinking it was seven hours wasted (well never wasted). It's the highest IBU I've done (over 100).

I've given it a good shake up and will keep an eye on it.

Cheers

yep just keep it warmish and I'm confident the brew will take off.
