Hi,

Planning a big brew day soon using some kits I have had for a while. Couple of months ago I bought a 25l storage bin from Amazon (these if the link works! http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B004478Q0G/?tag=skimlinks_replacement-20) but it didn't come with a lid although it was described with one. Amazon sent me another but same problem, I was going to send them both back but decided to keep to store bottles and equipment in. Now, my question is can I use anything else as a lid? I was simply going to replace or buy a couple of lids but very unexpectedly lost my job yesterday so don't need the extra expenditure, and the missus will kill me if I buy kit at a time like this.

Really could do with using as I have loads of stuff to get going and only a small time frame as expecting 2nd child in a few months and have been told it all needs to packed away before the arrival! God I do sound like I am under the thumb!

Any help greatly appreciated.

Sorry to hear about your job.

I think you could use a sanitised cloth of some description, just to stop any nasties getting in really.

Cling film works too with a few tint holes poked in.
You can also see if it's fermenting by the bulge ;)
